bdnews24.com :Eleven people, including the Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) Chhatra League unit president and general secretary, have been charged with the murder of fourth-year student Naimul Islam Riad.The police chargesheet, submitted on Monday, also suggested dropping district Chhatra League General Secretary Anwar Hossain Bipul from the case as no proof of his involvement had been found. Riad was attacked in front of the university’s main gate on July 14, 2014 during a BCL factional feud over the formation of the body’s university unit committee. The environment science student was standing with his friends when he was hacked by a group of people riding motorcycles, who came from the town. He died at Jessore General Hospital later that day. The investigation officer, Criminal Investigation Department Inspector Momtazul Haque, said Riad’s uncle Rafiqul Islam Raju had filed the case the next day, accusing 12 people of the murder. The case was being initially handled by the police but later the CID took over. The accused include JUST BCL General Secretary Shamim Hasan, President Subrata Biswas, students Faisal Tanvir and Azizul Islam.
