Leaders and activists of ruling party Awami League’s student front Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) allegedly vandalised six shops here at Rikabibazar area in the city on Monday.
Sources concerned said the followers of district unit of BCL President Shahriar Alam Samad and Senior Vice-President Nizam Uddin locked in a clash around 2:30pm over establishing supremacy in the area after bringing out a procession marking the founding anniversary of the student body.
At one stage of the clash, followers of both the groups vandalised nearby shops, numbering six, in the Stadium Market area.
