A group of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists of Rajshahi University unit yesterday severally beat up a student over a trifling matter.
The victim was identified as Sohag Rana, a fourth year student of philosophy department.
He was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital after giving primary aid from the university medical centre.
Witnesses said, Sohag Rana and BCL RU unit activist Omar Faruk Bayezid, fourth year student of accounting and information system department were taking meal at Tukitaki Chattar on campus sitting together. While Sohag called a stall boy as “Picchi”, Bayezid went anger on him.
“Bayezid started beating up Sohag without further talks while Sohag tried to say something “, witnesses also said.
Expelled BCL activist Abu Khair Mostafa alias Rinet along with some 4/5 aides, then joined with Bayezid and beat up Sohag severally.
Later, BCL RU unit organizing secretary Faisal Ahmed Runu settled the issue.
However, Bayezid denied the allegations of beating up Sohag.
