BCL man suspended over assaulting journo in CU

The authority of Chittagong University (CU) has suspended one activist of ruling party student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) from the university for three months in connection with physically assaulting a journalist on Sunday.
The accused is identified as Junaid Hossen Joy, a student of History department under 2015-16 academic session. He is a BCL activist of shuttle train-based group “Sixty Nine”.
CU Proctor SM Monirul Hassan confirmed the news.He said that the decision was taken from a meeting of Residence Health and Disciplinary Committee of the university where the BCL man was suspended for three months as he were found guilty over assaulting a journalist.
He said on 11 February the accused man assaulted the campus correspondent of daily Banik Barta Jobair Chowdhury,General Secretary of Chittagong University Journalists’ Association (CUJA).
Later, CUJA submitted a written complaint to the university authority and the university took the decision after investigation.The suspension order is taken effective on 17 February.
Earlier, on 13 February , he was expelled from CU BCL unit on the same allegation.
