BCL leaders’ involvement in blackmailing alleged

The third level leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League, Chittagong University chapter allegedly entangled themselves into extortion and blackmailing as the high command of the body lost the control after the demise of BCL-central committee assistant secretary Diyaz Irfan Chowdhury.
After the mysterious demise of Diyaz, CU unit Chhatra League divided into four portion. One portion has been heading by BCL President Alamgir Tipu, another by General Secretary Fazle Rabbi Sujon, another one by Diyaz’ follower and BCL vice-president Mohammad Mamun and the rest one by BCL vice-president Bikul. Mamun has been in jail in two cases.
In the last four days, two incidents of blackmailing took place by the ‘evil’ leaders of Chhatra League. On January 3, Chhatra League leader Nazmul Karim Nipun and Chhatra Dal leader Salah Uddin Uzzal abducted a national level boxer, also a student of CU and confined him at A F Rahman Hall, demanding tk 3,00000 as ransom. The victim was Munayemur Rahman Khan, a student of physical science department and a national level boxer.
CU administration suspended the duo after initial prove was found against them, said CU proctor Ali Azgor Chowdhury.
 Meanwhile, two days to the incident, another victim Rubel, a second year student of International Relations department was abducted by two BCL leaders but who the leaders were couldn’t found immediately.
BCL sources on condition of anonymity said, CU BCL can’t take action against the accused who are continuing extortion, committing misdoings and frequently involving into clashes as the accused has been given shelter by the top level leaders. The source also demand that, the reason behind giving shelter by the top level leaders is that no faction never want to quit the cadres as feared of being weaker than the another one.
However, BCL PresidentAlamgirTipu said, we already sent recommendation to the central body to take action against the accused.
