The president of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), Bangla College unit, allegedly attempted to murder a female student of the college on Friday evening as she rejected an immoral proposal. The student received injuries in the hands. The student filed a case against the BCL leader Mojibur Rahman Anik with the Mirpur Model Police Station at 12:05pm on Saturday.
The Assistant-Sub-Inspector and investigative officer of the case Md Wahidul Islam confirmed the matter and said that the student filed the case under the Women and Children Repression-Act.
According to the case Mojibur Rahman Anik gave an immoral proposal to a second year female student to make relationship with him about six months ago. But the female student did not show any interest. In the first week of December, Anik again asked the girl to establish illicit relationship with her. But she rejected again.
On Friday evening, she went to Mirpur Eye Hospital just opposite to the Bangla College. Seeing her, Anik and his accomplices attacked her with lethal weapons. She saved her life in exchange of injuries.
“I was beside the Eye Hospital. Anik and some of his friends attacked me and tried to injure my neck and sensitive parts of the body. But they failed. Then they struck my hands,” the injured female student told the journalists on Saturday.
Mojibur Rahman Anik, however, denied all the allegations and said he was the victim of politics. “I never proposed her. I do not know her,” Anik said.
Mahbub Hasan, Officer-in-Charge of Mirpur Model Police Station said that the student filed a case against Anik and she also filed a general diary earlier.
“We are looking into the matter and will take initiative to nab the culprit,” he said.
