BCL leader stabbed to death in city: 1 hurt

A leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was stabbed to death by some assailants in the city’s Banani area on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Tanjil Hossain alisa Rakib, 25, President of Ward No. 19 of Dhaka city unit of BCL.
He was son of Altaf Hossain, resident of Mohakhali T&T Colony Jaam-e- Maszid area, hailed from Barishal district.
Rakib’s friend also received severe injuries during attack by the miscreants. He was taken to a private clinic in a critical condition, police said.Abul Malek, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Banani Police Station, said that a gang of miscreants swooped on Rakib while he along with his friend Nur Islam were standing beside an Ansar camp in the area around 11:45 pm and stabbed them indiscriminately.
Seriously injured, Rakib succumbed to his injuries on the way to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Police are considering family feud and past enmity as clues of murder, the SI said.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue.
A case was filed with the police station in this connection, said Saihan Oli Ullah, Inspector In-Charge (operation) of Banani Police Station.
