BCL leader remanded in arms case

A court here on Friday placed Bangladesh Chatra League (BCL) Dhaka South city unit vice-president Delwar Hossain Sayeedi on a two-day remand in an arms case filed with Sabujbagh Police Station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohona Alamgir passed the order as police produced him before the court and pleaded to place him on a total of 15-day remand in three separate cases lodged against him.
The court placed him on the two-day remand in arms act case, cancelled remand plea in narcotics case and allowed him bail in the case filed for allegedly obstructing law enforcing agency from conducting their duty. The same court also allowed bail to BCL’s Dhaka South city unit general secretary Md Zobayer Ahammed in the case filed for obstructing law enforcing agency
from conducting their duty.
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Sayeedi from the capital’s Sabujbagh area on early Thursday for allegedly running extortion gang in the name of Home Minister. The RAB members also recovered a foreign pistol, a magazine, two bullets and 578 yaba tablets from his possession. As RAB tried to take Sayeedi from his den after the arrest, Zubayer and around 150-200 of his followers tried to snatch him from RAB’s possession.
Later, the RAB showed Zubayer arrested as well.
