BCL leader brings out file from PMO, sued for forgery

A central Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader has been arrested by law enforcers on charges of forgery after bringing out a file right from the prime minister’s office.
The arrested BCL leader is now being questioned by police placing him on remand.
Tariqul Islam Mumin, vice-president of the central executive committee of BCL has been suspended from the organisation permanently, said BCL president Al Nahiyan Khan Joy and general secretary Lekhok Bhattacharya in a press release on Saturday.
There are allegations against Mumin that he changed the prime minister’s decision through forgery by bringing out a file from the PMO. Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, director of the PMO, filed a case in this regard with the city’s Tejgaon Police Station on May 5 last.
Apart from Tariqul, two office secretaries at the prime minister’s office Fatema and Farhad were made accused in the case.
Tariqul Islam Mumin was arrested by Tejgaon police on Wednesday night from his Gazipur Road residence in Bhola district. Later, he was brought in Dhaka by road. He was produced before court and remand was sought for questioning him. The court granted four days’ remand for questioning. Mumin has been on remand since Friday.
Meanwhile, the central committee of BCL sent a press release stating that “Tariqul Islam Mumin was permanently expelled from Chhatra League for his involvement in anti-organisational activities at an emergency meeting of the BCL central executive committee.”
BCL central general secretary Lekhok Bhattacharya said, “There is no place of the criminals in Chhatra League. If anyone commits any crime, he is instantly expelled from the organisation.
