BCL factional clash injures 10 at IU

At least 10 activists, including the general secretary of Islamic University unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), were injured in a clash held between two factions of the organization on the campus on Tuesday.
The other injured were not identified immediately, the police said.  
There had been a longstanding feud between IU unit BCL incumbent general secretary Rakibul Islam Rakib and former assistant secretary Faisal Siddique Arafat over establishing supremacy on the campus, IU police station officer-in-charge Jahangir Arif said.
Following the dispute – the two factions chased and counter chased triggering panic with sharp weapons, leaving 20 people including Rakib injured.
During the clash, they exploded four cocktails on the spot.
Later, around 100 IU unit BCL activists, loyal to Arafat, locked up the main entrance of IU.
IU Acting proctor Anisur Rahman said that they took all measures to avoid any unasked situation.
