A section of the ruling party’s student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) herein Chittagong has demanded the resignation of the Chittagong University’s (CU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Anwarul Azim Arif bringing in allegation of nepotism against him.
The demand was placed at a press conference held on Saturday afternoon at the Chittagong Press Club, where the CU unit leaders of the student body alleged that the incumbent VC had been favouring the BNP-Jamaat people in the administration of the university.
They also said that the acting Registrar, Controller of examinations and Director (transportation) are all activists of the BNP-Jamaat alliance.
But the VC is patronising them, they alleged.
A written statement was read in this connection by Moazzem Hussain, Assistant Secretary of the defunct committee of the BCL. They also alleged that the VC had appointed some of his close relatives in different posts of the administration. He is also patronising a vested group of the BCL activists, they said.
