Some leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), Rajshahi Government Polytechnic Institute unit, have allegedly thrown the principal of the institute into a pond after assaulting him on the campus.
The notorious incident occurred at 1:35pm on Saturday as the principal did not give chance to Kamal Hossain Sourav, a student and a BCL leader, and BCL man to sit for the exam.
Later, the employees of the institute pulled out the principal, Farid Uddin, from the pond water.
The principal said, “I will take legal action against the wrongdoers. Such an act should not be tolerated at all.”
A good number of students and teachers staged demonstration on the campus to bring the offenders to book immediately, campus sources said.
The incidents originated when two BCL men did not get chance to fill up the form due to lack of necessary attendance in the class and taking part in the mid-terminal examination as per rules of the institute, the sources said.
Chandrima Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sheikh Mohammad Golam Mostafa said that the polytechnic institute has filed complaint in this connection. “We will take legal action after investigating the incident.”
