Awami League holding a press conference at its party office on Friday afternoon denying all allegations claimed counter allegations of violating election conduct rule by BNP.AL also raised allegations against EC not to take any step over their allegations.Among others Advocate Afzal Hossain, information and research secretary of central AL and Golam Abbas Chowdhury Dulal, city president and election coordinator and AKM Jahangir, secretary city AL addresses the meeting. AL leaders alleged that they submitted 9 allegations of violating election conduct rule against their rival BNP mayor candidate to EC, but yet no get any result from EC.
`It’s a very shame full for EC not taking any action about our allegations’ they told journalists.
Their allegations against BNP candidate included tearing posters of AL, giving motorcycle rounds on road, meeting in government educational institutions, opening camps on government land and other types of violation of election conduct rules.
The AL leaders also claimed that police arresting only those who were accused in specified cases. As BNP tried to spoil previous election so police usually arrested them as advance security.
On other hand, JaPa nominated mayor candidate Iqbal Hossain Tapos holding a press conference at his election camp on Friday afternoon said he will remain contesting election race.
Formal date of withdrawing candidature already lapsed and his election activists also want to face the election contest, Tapos claimed.
Mentionable, JaPa chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad on Thursday declared support of his party in favour of AL candidate and asked JaPa mayor candidate to withdraw from election-contest in favour of AL mayor candidate of BCC.
