BCB’s inspection team visits Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium

A six-member of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) delegation team on Tuesday visited at the Shaheed Sheikh Abu Naser Cricket Stadium to inspect the present condition of the ground about hosting a Test match between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.
They also visited four posh residential hotels to check the facilities during the stay of the players and Dhaka-Khulna highway.
Headed by BCB’s director Sheikh Sohel, the other five members of the delegation are manager of grounds and facilities department Sayed Abdul Baten, manager of media committee Rabeed Imam, operations manager Sabbir Hossain, chief of BCB’s security wing major Imam and member of logistic department Sajeeb.
The inspection team assured the local journalists that BCB would likely host one Test match out of three Tests in this venue. “Our observation team is satisfied to see the present facilities of Khulna posh residential hotels including ‘Hotel City Inn,” said BCB Director Sheikh Sohel.
The condition of Khulna-Dhaka Highway now is better condition compared to the previous one, he added He said they would submit an inspection report to BCB, he said adding that we have already communicated to the Communication Ministry for repairing a few kilometers of Dhaka-Khulna road to ensure the smooth facility of players carrying bus.
Grounds and facilities national manager of BCB Sayed Abdul Baten told journalists that they are satisfied after visiting the venue, hotels facilities and road’s condition.
Terming Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium one of the beautiful Test venues of the country, he hoped that the problems would be solved before the match.
Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium got international venue status on March 12, 2006. On November 21 in 2012, Bangladesh played Test match against West Indies in the same venue.
Bangladesh has won two ODIs against WI while WI secured one Test match victory against Bangladesh.
