UNB, Dhaka :
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Thursday expressed its disappointment at the decision of Cricket Australia
(CA) to postpone the Test tour to Bangladesh on ‘security grounds’.
“BCB does not agree with the CA’s view that Bangladesh is at the moment unsafe for hosting
the series against Australia,” it said in a statement.
On the contrary, the Board is of the opinion that Bangladesh at present offers one of the safest environments for holding international sporting events including cricket, the statement said.
It also said the Board is committed to rescheduling the series at a later date and will continue to work closely with CA to that end.
The BCB came up with the statement after CA’s official announcement postponing its upcoming Test tour of Bangladesh due to concerns over players’ safety.
Chief executive of Cricket Australia James Sutherland announced the decision on Thursday evening.
The Australia were scheduled to come to Bangladesh on September 28 on a month-long tour which was set to get underway with a warm-up match in Fatullah on Saturday.
