A Chinese flag vessel MV Gin Cheng Haiyoung anchored at No.5 berths of the New Mooring container Terminal of the Chattogram Port on Friday morning taking 3 gantry cranes.
The chinese vessel took berth at about 9 am on Friday with chinese made Gantry cranes. After 13 years, these new GC are procured from china. While anchoring the chinese vessel loading GC , all movements of the marine vessels in the Karnaphuli Channel remained suspended for about 3 hours, port sources said. An spokesman of Saif Maritime Ltd told that 3 gantry crane so brought in September last from china are installed at No.3 berths of the NCT now under operations. And the new three will be instilled at No.4 and 5 berths , sources said.
