The Bangladesh Cricket Board announced on Monday the 24-member preliminary squad of Bangladesh for the upcoming three-match One Day International (ODI) series against West Indies. Besides, a 20-member Test squad was announced for the ensuing two-match Test series. Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been included in the both squads.
Veteran Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has not been included in the squad. Experienced Mahmudullah Riyad has not been recruited in the Test squad.
A total of five new cricketers have been included in the squad. They are: Shoriful Islam, Parvez Hossain Emon, Nasum Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud and Mahadi Hasan.
The cricketers, who have been selected for the preliminary ODI squad, are : Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mushfiqur Rahim, Md Mithun, Liton Kumar Das, Mahmudullah Riyad, Afif Hossain, Mosaddek Hossain, Soumya Sarkar, Yasir Ali, Naim Sheikh, Taskin Ahmed, Md Al-Amin Hossain, Shoriful Islam, Hasan Mahmud, Md Saifuddin, Mustafizur Rahmdan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Nasum Ahmed, Parvez Hossain Emon, Mahadi Hasan and Rubel Hossain.
The players, who have been chosen for the preliminary Test squad, are : Mominul Haque, Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mushfiqur Rahim, Md Mithun, Liton Kumar Das, Yasir Ali, Md Saif Hasan, Abu Jayed, Taskin Ahmed, Khaled Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Mustafizur Rahman, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Shadman Islam, Nayeem Hasan and Ebadot Hossain.
The full-fledged coaching camp for the preliminary squad is scheduled to be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in the city’s Mirpur from January 10.
Meanwhile, West Indies Cricket team will arrive in the city to play three One Day International (ODI) matches and two Test matches against Bangladesh on January 10.
Bangladesh will play a one-dayer warm-up match against West Indies at the BKSP Ground in Savar on January 18.
The Tigers will take on the Caribbean team in the first ODI at the SBNCS on January 20, face West Indies in the second ODI at the same venue on January 22, meet West Indies in the third ODI at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chattogram on January 25.
Bangladesh will play a four-dayer warm-up match against West Indies at the MA Aziz Stadium in Chattogram from January 28 to January 31.
The first Test between the hosts and West Indies will be held at the ZACS from February 3 to February 7.
The second Test between Bangladesh and West Indies will take place at the SBNCS from February 11 to February 15.
