The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Wednesday Bangladesh Twenty20 (T20) squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup (WC), which will start from October 16 at the different venues in Australia.

Chief Selector of the BCB Minhajul Abedin Nannu announced the 15-member T20 squad at the Press Briefing Room of the Shar-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur yesterday.

Ace batter Mahmudullah Riyad has been dropped from the squad. Riyad failed to show notable performance in the T20 Asia Cup, which concluded recently in the United Arab Emirates.

“With respect to Mahmudullah, he has produced many good games. We are moving forward keeping in mind the one-year plan that our current technical consultant has given us. Accordingly, Mahmudullah has been kept out with everyone’s consent after discussing with the team management,” Nannu said.

Before T20 World Cup, Bangladesh will play a Tri-Nation series in New Zealand. Hosts New Zealand, Bangladesh and Pakistan will take part in the ensuing Tri-Nation series. The Tri-Nation series will be held in T20 format.

Litton Das, Nurul Hasan, Yasir Ali, Hasan Mahumud and Najmul Hossain Shanto have returned to the squad after recovery from injury.
