Member of the parliamentary standing committee on Public Accounts Affairs and local legislator of reserved women constituency -31 Ms.Waseqa Ayesha Khan said disabled are now not hapless and they are able to be self-reliant through acquiring self-employment trainings from public and private initiatives. He disclosed it while addressing the programs of providing financial supports, training materials and certificate awarding ceremony for the disabled at District Shishu Academy auditorium on Monday last as chief guest. Bright Bangladesh Forum organized the programs for the disabled, sources said. Advisor of the BBF Md.Rezakul Haider Khan presided the function. City ward councilor Md. Morshedul Alam , councilor Farzana Parvin graced the occasion as special guests.Chief Executive of BBF Mr.Utpal Barua delivered the address of welcome in it. Program manager of BBF Sohail Ud Doza delivered informative speech on the ongoing activities of the organisation. Among the invited guests, Dr.Akbar Hossain, Bureau chief of New Nation Sarwaruddin, Editor of journal Parivesh Md. Sharud Nizam, child organizer Nargis sultana, Nasrin sultana addressed the function. Among the trained 18 disabled persons have been provided with financial supports and self-employment training materials to sustain their livelihood . 30 disabled have been awarded with successful certificates of self-employment training.
REHASWISS, an international NGO of Switzerland assisted the fund for providing the financial supports, materials to the disabled, BBF sources said. Representatives from different socio-development organizations, media personalities , community stakeholders, small entrepreneurs and about 150 disabled persons attended the function, sources added.
