Business Desk :
The Bangladesh Bank has asked the Authorised Dealer banks not to operate foreign transaction from any unauthorised centres.
The central bank also advised the Authorised Dealer (AD) banks to refrain from conducting foreign transactions in the name of central trade processing center or hub without permission from its Foreign Exchange Policy Department.
The BB on Wednesday issued a circular, signed by Md Shahidul Islam, General Manager (current charge) of the FEPD, in this regard.
A section of AD banks is exchanging foreign currencies from unauthorised centers or hub or such platform without approval of the central bank, the circular said.
The central bank will take necessary action if the dealer banks in question continue to disregard the central bank’s advice in this regard, the circular added.
Earlier, another circular of the central bank warned the AD banks to provide necessary documents about foreign exchange transaction to the respective division of the Bangladesh Bank.
