BAU Correspondent :
Rejecting the punishment of only 6 students of Bangladesh Agriculture University (BAU), agitating students continued their demonstration for 10th consecutive day on the campus demanding legal action against all criminals involved in the killing of Saad Ibney Momtaj, 23, a final year student of Faculty of Fisheries. The agitating students of BAU also postponed the movement till 15 April, giving time to the varsity authorities to take steps in this respect.
“As teachers suspended their classes till 14 April and students are going to home, we postpone our movement till 15 April,” told Anas, a representative of the agitating students, at a gathering at Bijoy’71.
He also warned the administrations for tougher action if all accused are not arrested within 5:00pm on 15 April. He also urged the BAU authorities to form a new probe body for supplementary investigation.
Later, the protesters accompanied by some teachers brought out a procession on the campus demanding punishment of the killers under speedy trial act, irrefutable expulsion of all students involved in the killing and adequate safety for the students, teachers and staffs at the campus. The protesters have put the administrative building under lock and key demanding expulsion, arrest and capital punishment of all who involved in the killing.
It is to be mentioned that, Saad Ibney Momtaj, a final year student of the Faculty of Fisheries, died at a private clinic on April 1, a day after his fellow BCL activists had beaten him up with hockey sticks, iron rods and cricket stumps on the campus. He was a former organising secretary of Ashraful Haque Hall unit BCL.
