BASIS SoftExpo, the biggest exhibition in country’s information technology industries, will begin at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) here on February 1.
Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury is expected to inaugurate the four-day show. Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal and State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak will grace the inaugural function as special guests, among others.
Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) is organizing the show for eleventh time, with this year’s slogan “Future in Motion”.
BASIS, the national trade body for Software and IT Enabled Service industry of Bangladesh, held a press briefing at its office on Saturday marking the exhibition.
Chaired by BASIS president Mustafa Jabbar, the briefing was addressed by its senior vice-president Russell T Ahmed, vice-president M Rashidul Hasan, BASIS director and convener of this year’s exhibition Syed Almas Kabir, among others.
Expressing his hope of holding a successful event, the BASIS president said BASIS SoftExpo is the most effective place for expanding businesses of country’s IT companies.
“We could not organize this event separately after 2012. From now on, it will be held on every year and I hope this year’s event will be a grand success,” Jabbar said. According to the organizers, like earlier occasions, this year’s exhibition will showcase the capacity of country’s software and IT industries, its successes, and will hold many seminars and workshops regarding the sector.
The organizers are hoping around half a million people will attend the four-day extravaganza.
“We will divide the show area in four sections- business software zone, ITES and BPO zone, mobile innovation zone and e-commerce zone. Local and international business matchmaking sessions will be held for the business expansion of IT companies. Business lounge will also be set up,” said Syed Almas Kabir.
