Reigning champions Bashundhara Kings beat Chittagong Abahani Limited by five goals to nil in their match of the TVS Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football at Bashundhara Sports Complex in the city on Friday.
The score was 4-0 before the lemon-break.
Bashundhara Kings led the points table bagging 21 points from eight matches, while Chittagong Abahani Limited collected 12 points from as many matches.
Sumon Reza of Bashundhara Kings put his team ahead in the 17th minute of the play.
Bashundhra’s Brazilian recruit Robinho doubled the margin in the 28th minute of the match.
After four minutes, Ibrahim of Bashundhara Kings made it 3-0.
Robinho increased the tally into 4-0 in the 43rd minute of the match. Niferia-born Bangladeshi Eleta Kingsley sealed the fate of the match (5-0) in the 67th minute of the game. Meanwhile, title aspirants Dhaka Abahani Limited drew 1-1 with the newcomers Swadhinata Krira Sangha at Liberation War Memorial Stadium in Rajshahi on the same day.
After yesterday’s outcome, Dhaka Abahani Limited grabbed 17 points from eight matches, while Swadinata Krira Sangha earned five points from as many matches.
Nabib Newaj Jibon of Dhaka Abahani Limited gave his team early lead in the 39th minute of the clash.
After the interval, Ekbal Hussain of Swadhinata Krira Sangha leveled the margin in the 80th minute of the game.
