Tax evasion case: Bashundhara Gr Chairman granted bail

A Dhaka court yesterday (Thursday) granted bail to Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan alias Shah Alam, his wife and two sons after they surrendered to the court in a case filed on the charge of tax evasion.
Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar of the Special Judge Court-3 of Dhaka granted the bail on Thursday afternoon.
Other three accused persons are Alam’s wife Arfoza Begum, sons Sadat Sobhan and Shafiat Sobhan.
Afroza Begun is accused in the tax case only while her sons are accused in two cases including one lodged for bribery.
On February 3, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court directed the six accused including Shah Alam to surrender to the lower court within three weeks in the case filed for tax evasion.
