Barishal Bus Owner’s Group president forced to resign to end workers’ agitation

After week long tensed situation, Aftab Hossain , Barishal City Sramik League Convener, forced to resign from the post of president of Bus Owners Group (BOG) controlling Nathullabad central bus terminal of Barishal.
In a letter addressing Yunus Khan, vice president of BOG on Tuesday, Aftab said due to illness and personal causes he could not perform duties as president of the BOG.
On other hand the bus workers alleged that, Aftab, although a lobour leader, since last one decade performed autocratic and oppressive role against the interest of bus workers as president of owners association.
On January 2, Alamgir Hossain and Abdul Kaium two bus workers of Barishal-Swarupkati route, were physically assaulted by Aftab Hossain at Nathullabad Bus Terminal over parking the bus at mid of the road.
After that unrest and tensed situation was created at Nathullabad central bus terminal area of the city by protesting bus workers demanding resignation of Aftab Hossain from the owners association.
Aftar resignation of Aftab from BOG president post, the protesting bus workers distributed sweet meat at terminal area showing resignation letter of Aftab and situation became normal.
