More than 72,210 SSC examinees under Sylhet Education Board and several thousand Dakhil examinees under Madrasha Education Board of the district and their guardians are in tension with the prevailing political situation of the country.
According to schedule, the examinations will start from February 2, just five days from now. Due to continuous blockade and repeated hartals of the BNP and Jamaat led opposition alliance, the examinees living far from the examination centres are anxious of reaching there in time because of absence of sufficient transport. Moreover, they are also afraid that the vehicles in which they would travel to reach the examination centres might be attacked by the activists. Guardians of the examinees are also in tension of sending their sons and daughters to the examination centres in due time.
Abdul Mannan Khan, Controller of Sylhet Education Board informed, a total of 72,210 examinees are supposed to appear in SSC examination this year from under the Board of which 39,757 are males and 32,453 are females. The examinations will be held through 119 centres this year, he said.
Abdul Mannan Khan further informed, the number of SSC examinees under the board has been increased this year in compared to previous years. A total of 3,961 examinees have been increased this year.
Barisal Correspondent adds: A human chain was formed in Barisal on Thursday noon demanding assurances of safety and security of the SSC examinees.
On other hand, Barisal education Board increased number centers to hold SSC examination smoothly facing blockade and political turmoil.
Participants at a human chain in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall in the city at 12:30 pm on Thursday called the ruling and rival political alliances to ensure safety and security of the Secondary School Certificate examinees.
The programme organised by Samajtantrik Chhatra Front Barisal unit, was presided over by Dr. Manisha Chakraborty, Barisal unit president.
Among others Irman Habib Ruman, central secretary, H M Imon, Bishweshwer Bhushan Dey, leaders of SCF, addressed the programme.
People are suffering, nation are losing by the political rivalries between the ruling and opponent alliances in the name of blockade, strike, violence and prevention of those movements. Dialogue between the rivals about practicing sustainable democratic norms by assurances for conducting free fair impartial and inclusive general election, could change the scenario, they said.
Mass people passing days with most insecurity, anxieties and risks through out the country and government also failed to ensure safety and security of the general people, they noticed.
So safely reaching at and returning from examination centers, conducting examination smoothly, now became uncertain. In this situation rival political alliances should be responsible for giving scope to conduct public examinations like SSC with ensuring safety and security, they called.
