Barisal Education Board authority on Tuesday suggested punitive actions against two head examiners of ‘Hindu Religious Study’ for SSC result disaster which caused suicide of a meritorious examinee.
The accused two head examiners were Juran Chandra Chakraborty of Barisal B M School and Biren Chakraborty of Bakerganj Bibichini School.
Prof. Md. Ziaul Huq, Chairman, BEB on Tuesday said they recommended stopping monthly salary, cancellation of MPO, and decided to avoid the accused two head examiners of ‘Hindu Religious Study’ from all activities related with examination of BEB, permanently .
Already letters sent in this connection to the director general of secondary and higher secondary education directorate, the BEB chairman added.
Mentionable 1492 examinees including Sarbojit Ghosh Ridoy declared as failed in SSC on May 11 as they failed in Hindu Religious Study subject.
This result agony made Sarbojit frustrated as he got A+ in other subjects and jumping from roof top of a under construction building he committed suicide.
However after the incident became viral in internet demanding investigation getting support from deputy commissioner , Barisal Education Board authourity became bound to investigate the matter.
Thus after re-scrutiny 1141 examinees of earlier declared as failed in Hindu Religious Study subject, declared as passed including Sarbojit and result of 94 examinees also upgraded to GPA-5.
After re- scrutiny it was found that Sarbojit passed with GPA- 4.67.
Enayet Hossain Chowdhury, freedom fighter and secretary Barisal Nagirik Parishad, said the incident proved over all irresponsibility of the BEB, who publishes a sensitive public examination result without proper scrutiny. So we think action should be taken not only against the two head examiners, but also against others who also failed to perform their responsibility properly.
