Uttar Baridhara Club tasted their first victory in the Bangladesh Premier League beating Brothers Union (BU) by 3-2 goals in their clash at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
Emdadul Haque Manu put Uttar Baridhara ahead in the 30th minute with a brilliant header. A long cross of Nigerian midfielder Kosoko from the left flank flew over all defenders to meet Manu, who headed home from the six-yard box.
Nigerian striker Victori Antoni missed a penalty in the 43rd minute. Khalekur Jaman fouled Rubel Miah inside the box to gift Brothers a penalty. But Antoni sent the ball wide from the spot.
Manu netted his second of the night from a goalmouth melee. Rogu failed to grip on a free kick by Abul Kalam Azad Sumon that fell on six-yard box and Manu fired the ball home.
Skipper Shahidul Islam Shawpon extended the lead to 3-0 with a stunning free kick. Shawpon coolly sent the ball over the wall to hit into the net at near post leaving no chance for the keeper.
Victori Antoni pulled one back for the Gopibag based outfit in the 57th minute as he volleyed past Goni on a rebound after Jewel Rana’s header hit the crossbar.
Faisal Mahmud reduced the margin to 3-2 in the 80th minute.
Uttar Baridhara went up to 5 points from 5 matches while Brothers Union remained with their previous 6 points from same number of outings.
