Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) observed the 45th death anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day 2020 on Saturday, August 15 with profound respect. A day-long program was arranged to commemorate the day. The day’s programs were begun with half-mast of the national flag in front of the BARI Headquarters. BARI Director General Dr. Md. Nazirul Islam with other directors of the institute laid wreaths at the portrait of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Scientists, officers, staff and labours of the institute were present on the occasion.
The day’s programs also included condolence procession to a limited scale, biographical discussion on Bangabandhu and his family, documentary exhibition, recitation from holy Quran, special prayers and milad mahfil.
A biographical discussion on Bangabandhu and his family and documentary exhibition were held in the Kazi Badruddoza auditorium of the Institute. BARI Director General Dr. Md. Nazirul Islam was present as chief guest while Director (Research) Dr. Md. Miaruddin presided over the program. BARI Director (Oil seed Research) Mst. Dilafroza Khanam, Director (Tuber Crops Research) Dr. S. M. Sharifuzzaman were present as special guests. Representatives of BARI Scientist Association, Bangabandhu Krishibid Parishad Gazipur District, Diploma Krishibid Parishad, BARI Employees Welfare Association, and BARI Labors Club also addressed the function. Scientists, officers, staff and labors of different divisions were present on the occasion.
