FC Barcelona are on the verge of sealing the loan signing of Spain international winger Adama Traore from Wolverhampton Wanderers in a move that sees the 26-year-old return to the club he left six years ago.
Adama flew into Barcelona on Friday lunchtime and will complete his medical check-up on Saturday before the deal is confirmed by the club. However, Adama told local TV network TV3 that he was “very happy” at the prospect of returning to the club where he began his career.
A product of the Barcelona youth system, Adama made just four appearances for the Barca first team before joining Aston Villa in the Premier League, following that with moves to Middlesbrough and the Wolves. Speed and power are the two main assets of the player, who so far has earned eight Spain caps, although perhaps his main weakness is getting into good positions and then failing to provide the final ball. Barca will hope that is something he can improve on by working with first-team coach Xavi Hernandez. Adama will replace Ousmane Dembele, who has been told to leave the Camp Nou before the end of the transfer window, following the failure of conversations regarding a new contract and his arrival is also seen as a way of pressuring Dembele into leaving in the current transfer window by making it clear there is no way back for the Frenchman.
