The country’s banks will remain closed on 30 March on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat. Earlier, the holiday was scheduled for 29 March, says a press release.
Since Shab-i-Barat is determined based on the sighting of the moon, a new date has been fixed for the holiday.
The central bank issued a circular in this regard on Monday.
Earlier, the central bank had published the list of bank holidays for November 12, 2021 last year. The list included 24 holidays for the current year.
As per the long tradition, the first day of July and the last day of December will be bank holidays in this year too.
Mentionable, the 31 December’s bank holiday will fall on a weekend, on Saturday.
In the same way, among the 24 holidays in this calendar year, eight holidays will fall on weekends and other government holidays. Independent Day, May Day, Jumatul Wida, two days of Eid-ul-Fitr, Durga Puja (Bijoya Dashami), Christmas Day and the bank holiday of December will fall on regular weekends.
But, Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Adha and other holidays on the Muslim religious occasions will depend on moon sighting.
