Two auditors of the bank have come from Dhaka. After investigating with them on the spot, I have got an account of around Tk 44 lakh so far. However, the customers could not show any receipt for depositing money in the agent bank.
The bank authorities have filed a general diary with the Bagharpara police station to take legal action against Zahid Hasan.
According to the complaint, Bank Asia’s agent outlet was inaugurated in 2020 at Chaturbaria Bazar bordering area in Bagharpara Upazila. Zahid Hasan was appointed as a manager.
About one thousand customers used to transact in the outlet with savings scheme (DPS), term deposit and savings account. Most of them are term deposit customers. In addition, remittances from abroad were distributed from the outlet. Again, more than two thousand customers pay their electricity bills here every month. Zahid Hasan targeted most of the families in the area as they were expatriates.
Ignoring the banking policy, he was tempted to deposit money through it by showing the temptation of high rate of profit. Many people save money in the hope of making huge profits. However, agent Zahid Hasan used his own printed fake receipts to collect money from customers.
