Banglar Kakoli sails for Sri Lanka with second consignment of rice

State-run Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC)cargo ship “M V Banglar Kakoli” with another 12,500 tonnes of rice on board left Chittagong Port for Colombo( Sri Lanka) Saturday.
M V Banglar Kakoli in its second trip left Chittagong Port at around 2pm, port sources said.
Bangladesh exported 12,500 tonnes of rice to Sri Lanka as part of a contract between the two countries to export 50,000 tonnes of rice to the latter.
Earlier on December 26, the same cargo ship carried the first consignment of 12,500 tonnes of rice to Sri Lanka.
“The ship steam out from no-3 jetty of the general cargo berth of the port during the high tide this afternoon”, said Jahirul Islam, an official of Food Department, Chittagong zone.
High officials of Food Department and Chittagong Port were present while the ship left Chittagong port.
