Captain of Bangladesh Women’s National Cricket team Salma Khatun said they are eyeing to perform better brand of cricket during the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia.
Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team will leave the city for Australia tomorrow to take part in the Women’s T20 World Cup. They will participate a twelve-day long conditioning camp in Gold Coast before the main competition starts.
“We’re are confident to beat two teams in the competition” Salma said to the newsmen at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur after the official photo session on Thursday last.
Bangladesh have been placed in Group-A with India, Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.
She said, “The teams like Australia and New Zealand are stronger teams. They’re powerhouses of world cricket but we want to perform up to the mark against them.”
Bangladesh will take on India in their first match in Australia on February 24. Then they will face Australia on February 27, meet New Zealand on February 29 and play against Sri Lanka on March 2.
President of BCB said, ” I always hope something better from our women’s team. They will represent for Bangladesh in the World Cup. We are proud of them. I don’t say they are performing extra-ordinary cricket, but they showed a better brand of cricket. Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team are the champions in Asia. So, we are now in a good position,”
He said ” It is true that the members of Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team don’t get the same facilities as the men’s team get. But we’re trying to give more facilities to them as soon as possible. The Tigresses are confident with their own capabilities and I hope they will bring a good result.”
