Bangladesh Women lost to Indian Women by 79 runs in their Group B match of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 Cricket at the Sylhet Divisional Stadium on Sunday.
Winning in the coin-session Indian Women decided to bat first and scored a massive 151 for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then they restricted Bangladesh Women to 72 for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs.
H Kaur and M Raj of India made a formidable start as the two openers put on together 107 runs in the opening stand before M Raj was stumped by Nuzhat Tasnia off Khadiza-Tul-Kubra.
H Kaur hit a windy 77. Her 59-ball knock was laced with 12 fours and a sixer while M Raj knocked a polished 41 off 38 balls including five fours.
Rumana Ahmed bagged two wickets in lieu of 33 runs while Salma Khatun, Khadiza-Tul-Kubra and Jahanara Alam picked up one wicket each for 11, 29 and 29 runs respectively. Later, Salma Khatun made 19 from 18 balls.
Fargana Hoque, Ayesha Rahman and Lata Mondal scored 15, 10 and 10 runs respectively. J Goswami and S Sharma captured three wickets each at the cost of 11 and 12 runs respectively while Poonam Yadav plucked two wickets for 10 runs.
H Kaur was adjudged the Player of the Match.
