UNB, Dhaka :
Bangladesh women football team left Dhaka for Pakistan on Monday to take part in the 3rd SAFF Women’s Championship beginning in Islamabad on Tuesday.
Bangladesh women’s football team is ready to give their best in the nine-day event (in Pakistan).
“I tried my best in training…. our job is to try and do our best on the pitch. I don’t want to lose and I want to finish as champions,” said the Eves Japanese coach at a press conference at the BFF House on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh skipper Suinu pru Marma said they are eying reaching the final of the meet. “Our first target is to reach the final. This time we have the best camp. Fitness and practice are also better than before.”
“We prepared ourselves in order to get success in Pakistan,” said Marma adding, “Earlier, we had problems in finishing but now we have improved a lot. We are doing better in every department…. this team is better than that of the previous SAFF Championship held in Sri Lanka.”
Out of the 20 footballers, six youngsters have been drafted from the national Under-16 squad that participated in the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship Qualifiers’ 2015 displaying some impressive performances but narrowly missing the final round berth.
Bangladesh team began their preparations for the regional women’s football competition under Japanese coach Norio Tsukitate on October 4.
Following a training of one month and five days, the Japanese coach was confident of exhibiting their full potential. This is the first time that the national women’s football team was groomed by a foreign coach for a tournament.
Norio will be accompanied by three local coaches in the tour – assistant coach Golam Robbani Choton, goalkeeping coach Mahbubur Rahman Litu and Sukur Mohammad Totam while Aysha Zaman accompanied the team as manager.
