Bangladesh whitewashed Zimbabwe 3-0 in the three-match One Day International (ODI) series defeating the tourists by 123 runs (according to Duckworth/Lewis Method) in the third and final ODI at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Friday.  
Sent into bat first, Bangladesh piled up a mammoth total of 322 for the loss of three wickets in 43 overs (seven overs were curtailed due to rain).
Chasing 342 runs (revised target) to win in 43 overs, Zimbabwe were bundled out for 218 off 37.3 overs.
Dashing opener Tamim Iqbal and promising opener Liton Das contributed together 292 runs for the opening partnership before Liton Das was caught at the long-on by Sikandar Raza off Carl Mumba. They made the record partnership for Bangladesh’s batsmen. Earlier, Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah Riyad scored 224 runs in the fifth wicket stand against New Zealand, in Cardiff in 2017. Liton Das notched up a terrific 176. He hit 16 fours and eight sixes in his 143-ball innings. Liton Das hit the highest score as a batsman of Bangladesh. It was Liton’s third ODI century. Liton reached the hundred-run landmark using 114 deliveries with 13 fours.
Earlier, Tamim Iqbal was the top-scorer of Bangladesh with 158 runs against Zimbabwe in the second ODI on Tuesday last at the same venue.
Tamim Iqbal remained unbeaten with 128. His 109-ball knock saw seven fours and six sixes. It was Tamim’s 13th ODI century. Tamim fulfilled his century playing 98 balls with five fours and four sixes. It was Tamim’s back-to-back century in his ODI career.
After Liton’s dismissal, Mahmudullah Riyad (3) was trapped leg before wicket by Mumba when Bangladesh’s total was 312 for the loss of two wickets.
Second-down Afif Hossain (7) was caught at the deep mid-wicket by Sean Williams off Mumba when Bangladesh’s innings came to an end.
Mumba got three wickets conceding 69 runs.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza gave his team early breakthrough as opener Tinashe Kamunhukamwe (4) was caught behind by wicketkeeper Liton Das off Mashrafe when Zimbabwe’s score was just five.
One-down Brendan Taylor (14) caught at the mid-wicket by Mohammad Mithun off Mohammad Saifuddin when the tourists’ total was 28 for the loss of two wickets.
Skipper Sean Williams and opener Regis Chakabva added 46 runs in the third wicket stand before Williams was bowled out by Afif Hossain when the visitors’ score was 74 for the loss of three wickets.
Williams made 30 from 36 balls featuring five fours.
After Sean’s departure, Chakabva and Wesley Madhevere put on together 39 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Chakabva was bowled out by Taijul Islam when Zimbabwe’s total was 113 for the loss of four wickets.
Chakabva scored 34 from 45 deliveries.
After Chakabva’s removal, Madhevere was caught at the point by Mehidy Hasan Miraz off Mohammad Saifuddin when Zimbabwe’s score was 150 for the loss of five wickets.
Madhevere hit a run-a-ball 42 including three fours and a sixer.
Fifth-down Richmond Mutumbami (0) was run out by a joint-effort of Tamim Iqbal and Mehidy Hasan Miraz when the African’s score was 164 for the loss of six wickets.
No-8 batsman Tinotenda Mutombodzi (7) was caught at the slip by Mohammad Naim off Mustafizur Rahman when Zimbabwe’s total was 173 for the loss of seven wickets.
Seventh-down Donald Tiripao (15) was bowled out by Taijul Islam when the touring side’s total was 202 for the loss of eight wickets.
Sikandar Raza was caught at the mid-wicket by Mohammad Naim off Mohammad Saifuddin when Zimbabwe’s score was 218 for the loss of nine wickets.
Raza top-scored with 61.
Then Charlton Tshuma (0) was bowled out by Mohammad Saifuddin when Zimbabwe’s innings was concluded.
Mohammad Saifuddin captured four wickets at the cost of 41 runs, while Taijul Islam bagged two wickets instead of 38 runs.
Afif Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza took one wicket apiece.
Liton Das was adjudged the Man of the Match.
