Bangladesh U-19 beat South Africa U-19 by 5 wkts

Bangladesh Under-19 cricket team had a good outing beating touring South African Under-19 team by five wickets with 72 balls remaining in the lone preparation match at BKSP ground in Savar on Monday.
Winning the toss, the Proteas’ youth team batted first and were restricted to 171 for 9 in their stipulated 50 overs against devastating bowling by local leg-break bowler Saleh Ahmed (Shawon Gazi).
Except for opener K Verreynne (35), most of the notable scores for the visitors came from their lower-order batsmen, including highest-scorer W Mulder (45). T De Zarzi (17), D Galiem (17) and L Senokwane (17) were the other scorers of note for the visitors.
Saleh Ahmed (Shawon Gazi), a leg break bowler of Old DOHS SC, performed his career best bowling to grab six wickets for 17 runs in his 10-over spell with two maidens. Nazmul Hossain Shanta and Nahid Hasan took one wicket each conceding 27 and 33 runs respectively.
Chasing a target of 172 runs, the Young Tigers easily overhauled it making 173 for 5 in 38 overs with captain Nazmul Hossain Shanta scoring 38, opener Saif Islam 25, Shafiul Hayet 26 and Mosadeek Hossain 24 runs.
L Senokwane claimed two wickets for 39 runs for the visitors.
Monday’s match was a warm-up for a seven-match Youth ODI series between hosts Bangladesh U-19 and touring South African U-19 team, that begins on Wednesday (Apr 8) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
