Bangladesh to achieve food security soon: Dy Speaker

Deputy Speaker of Jatiya Sangshad Advocate Fazle Rabbi Miah Friday said Bangladesh would achieve food security soon for taking pragmatic steps in agri sector.
“To this end, the government, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, is working relentlessly and distributing need based agri loan to the farmers to boost production of agri crops including paddy and wheat,” he told a loan distribution ceremony.
Bangladesh Bank and Monohar ICM (Integrated Crop Management) Club organized the function.
General Manager of Bangladesh Bank Provash Chandra Mollick, upazila chairman AHM Golam Shahid Ranzu, and UNO Abdul Awal were present as the special guests.
With Tahidul Islam Tuhin, president of Monohar ICM Club in the chair, the function was also addressed, among others, by acting president of upazila AL Nazmul Huda Dudu, general secretary Abdul Hamid Sarker Babu and local union parishad chairman Shamsul Azad Shital.
The deputy speaker said a silent revolution had already taken place in agri sector as the farmers were producing different crops successfully by getting agri loans and agri inputs.
Terming the government as agri-friendly, the deputy speaker said just after assuming power in 2009, the government reduced the prices of all chemical fertilizers considering the greater interest of the farmers.
