Sports Reporter :Bangladesh took the upper hand when the Tigers bowled out Zimbabwe for 374 runs in the first innings on the third day of the third Test at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Friday.Earlier, Bangladesh piled up a huge 503 in the first innings on the second day (Thursday).later, Bangladesh scored 23 for the loss of none in the second innings before the bails were drawn for the third day.The Tigers have now 152-run lead over their counterpart.Leg-sinner Jubair Hossain played the key role in wrecking Zimbabwe innings and completed his superb spell as 20-1-96-5.Zimbabwe resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 103 for the loss of one wicket. Sikandar Raza (54) and Hamilton Masakadza(51) resumed their first innings on the third day.Later, they added more 56 runs before Hamilton Masakadza was trapped leg before wicket by pacer Shafiul Islam when the tourists total was 169 for the loss of two wickets.Masakadza made a brilliant 81 from 151 balls with 9 fours and a sixer.After dismissal of Masakadza, Brendan Taylor and Sikandar Raza could stay at the crease for a short time. Brendan Taylor was caught at the mid-off by Taijul Islam off Jubair Hossain for naught when the visitors total was 172 for the loss of three wickets. After two delivery leg-spinner Jubair Hossain struck again as Sikandar Raza was caught at the slip by Mahmudullah Riyad off Jubair Hossain when the tourists total was 172 for the loss of four wickets. Raza notched up a nice 82 from 111 balls including 10 fours.After departure of Raza, Regis Chakabva and Craig Ervine put on together 37 runs for the fifth wicket stand before Ervine (14) was cleanly bowled out by Jubair Hossain when the African’s total was 209 for the loss of five wickets.later, Regis Chakabva and Elton Chigumbura repaired the damage and helped their side to avoid follow-on. Chakabva and Chigumbura added 113 runs in the sixth wicket stand before Chakabva was trapped leg before wicket by Shafiul Islam when Zimbabwe’s score was 322 for the loss of six wickets.Chakabva knocked a sedate 65 off 136 balls including seven boundaries.Elton Chigumbura was the day’s most successful batsman. He scored a superb 88 off 130 balls. He hit six fours and two sixes in his 174-ball innings before he was caught at the slip by Imrul Kayes off Jubair Hossain when the tourists total was 360 for the loss of nine wickets.Jubair Hossain then dismissed Natsai M’shangwe for eight and finished the African’s innings.Shafiul Islam bagged a pair of wickets for 50 runs while Rubel Hossain, Shakib Al Hasan and Taijul Islam took one wicket apiece.Imrul Kayes and Tamim Iqbal were at the crease on 11 and eight before the two umpires drew the bails for the third day.
