Asian Games Cricket: Bangladesh storm into semifinal

Bangladesh National Cricket team stormed into the semifinal of the Cricket Competition of the 17th Asian Games when they registered a huge 203-run victory over Kuwait National Cricket team in their quarterfinal match at the Yeonhui Cricket Ground in Incheon, South Korea on Wednesday.
Sent into bat first, Bangladesh piled up a massive 224 for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs and then they shot out minnows Kuwait for 21 runs in 13 overs.
All Kuwait batsmen failed to reach double digit figures facing Bangladeshi tight bowling attack.
Arafat Sunny bowled a devastating spell and finished as 2-0-8-4.
Mahmudullah Riyad grabbed three wickets for one run.
Besides, Shuvagata Hom, Shakib Al Hasan and Sabbir Rahman took one wicket each at the cost of two, four and four runs respectively.
Earlier, Bangladesh started their innings with a happy note as Tamim Iqbal and Anamul Haque, the two openers of Bangladesh put on together 61 runs in the opening stand before Anamul Haque was trapped leg before wicket by Bastaki Mahmood.
Later, Md Mithun and Shakib Al Hasan built another notable partnership. Mithun and Shakib contributed 67 runs for the third wicket partnership before Shakib Al Hasan was caught behind by wicketkeeper Bastaki Fahad off Alkandari Mohammad when Bangladesh’s score was 155 for the loss of three wickets.
Md Mithun cracked a stormy 59. His 25-ball hurricane innings was studded with three over boundaries and four boundaries.
After dismissal of Md Mithun, Bangladesh batsmen failed to make any remarkable partnership but Sabbir Rahman was able to make notable score.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Anamul Haque hit a quick-fire 38 from 18 balls with five fours and a six while Sabbir Rahman struck a windy 35 off 18 balls amid three sixes and a four.
Opener Tamim Iqbal made 28 from 22 balls featuring three fours while Shakib Al Hasan scored 23 off 15 balls including three fours.
Bastaki Fahad bagged three wickets at the cost of 48 runs while Alotaibi Mohammad, Alkandari Mohammad and Bastaki Mahmood got two wickets each conceding 19, 42 and 45 runs respectively.
