Bangladesh reports 24 new virus deaths, a daily record, as caseload tops 30,000

More 24 persons died from coronavirus infections while another 1,694 people tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours in Bangladesh.
“With the new cases, the death toll hit 432 and the number of infections hit 30,205,” Professor Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said it in a regular press briefing in Dhaka on Friday.
Dr. Sultana said that total 9,727 samples were tested out of 9,993 specimens at 47 labs across the country in the last 24 hours.
She said that 2,48,823 samples were tested across the country so far.
The DGHS official said that more 588 Covid-19 patients recovered and got released from different hospitals in the period totaling the number to 6,190.
The recovery rate from the disease currently stands at 20.49 percent, according to DGHS data.
