Bangladesh, Philippines share points in 8th round

Bangladesh open chess team split points with Philippines by 2-2 points in the 8th open section of 41st World Chess Olympiad now being held in Tromso, Norway.
In the 8th round games, which were held on Sunday, GM Enamul Hossain beat GM Eugenio Torre, GM Abdullah al Rakib split points with GM Gomez Jhon Paul and GM Niaz Murshed drew with GM Gonzales Jayson of Philippines.
Besides, GM Ziaur Rahman lost to GM Sadorra Julio Catalino of Philippines.
Bangladesh Open team earned 8 match points and 17.5 game points after 8th round matches.
In the women’s section, Bangladesh women’s team lost to Puerto Rico by 2.5-1.5 points. WIM Shamima Akter Liza beat Moales Santos Natasha and WFM Sharmin Sultana Shirin split points with Rivera Negron Yahira.
Besides, WIM Rani Hamid lost to Vega Jimenez Keyshla and WFM Zakia Sultana lost to Comas Colon Rinelly.
After 8th round matches, Bangladesh women’s team earned 6 match points and 15 game points.
