The Bangladesh Navy formally handed over 40 barracks built for homeless and uprooted people at Char Ataur in Hatia upazila of Noakhali district on Sunday.
The Navy built these barrack houses under the direct direction of Prime Minister and under the Prime Minister’s Office and under the overall supervision of Armed Forces Division, said an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release here.
The newly built barracks have a total of 200 units. Each of which can hold a family. Each barrack has a separate kitchen and bathroom.
Under the Asrayan project, the Navy constructed 2,383 barrack houses in 258 projects in Bagerhat, Bhola, Noakhali, Pirojpur, Barguna, Barishal and Jhalokati districts.
These barracks ensured homes to 16,735 homeless families.
