At least four persons, including three siblings, died and two others were injured when a portion of a boundary wall collapsed on them at Shantinibash of Paglabazar in Narayanganj Sadar upazila on Monday morning. The deceased were identified as Lamia, 12, Laboni, eight, and Lima, three, daughters of Saiful Islam, a construction worker Mostafa, 30, police said.
Fatulla Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kamal Uddin said a portion of the boundary wall of one Chan Miah’s house collapsed on them, leaving them dead around 10:30am.
The children were killed on the spot, while Mostofa died sometimes later, the police official said.
The three sisters were playing with a group of children nearby when the wall suddenly collapsed, the OC said. The boundary wall fell on the deceased when workers were breaking it for renovation, the police official said.
The injured were admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in a critical condition, the OC said. “Police reached the spot soon but could not find the owners he added.
The bodies were sent to Narayanganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
