Bangladesh marching towards middle income nation

Bangladesh has been marching towards a middle income nation following successful digitisation in the government service delivery systems to accelerate the pace of national development, speakers said here last evening.
They were addressing the concluding and prize-giving ceremony of the two-day Digital Innovation Fair-2015 organised by Kawnia upazila administration at Kawnia upazila parishad premises in the upazila town of the district.
The fair was arranged for sensitising and bridging the people with information and communication technologies (ICT) and rights to information in getting government services easily in the process of building a middle income nation.
The Access to Information (A2I) Programme of the Prime Minister’s Office being funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) extended assistance in organising the two-day digital innovation fair.
Kawnia upazila chairman Alhaj Mahfuzar Rahman Mithu attended and addressed the concluding ceremony as the special guest with Kawnia Upazila Nirbahi Officer Syed Farhad Hossain in the chair.
Kawnia upazila vice-chairmen Abdur Razzaque and Shefali Khatun, Upazila Agriculture Officer Shamimur Rahman and Upazila Women Affairs Officer Rebecca Yasmin addressed the ceremony as the special guests.
Upazila level heads of different government departments and educational institutions, NGO officials, entrepreneurs of the Union Digital Centres, teachers, students, youths, politicians, public representatives, professionals and elite were present.
The upazila administration, different government departments, Union Digital Centres, NGOs, educational institutions had set up 25 stalls in the fair displaying various newer digital innovations, service providing techniques, devices and technologies.
In their speeches, the speaker said that there is no alternative to learning and utilisation of the ICT to ensure easier access of mass people to internet and digital devices to achieve the targeted development goals.
The Prime Minister’s Vision 2021 in the present context of globalisation will definitely achieve goals of the Charter of Changes to turn Bangladesh into a corruption-free middle income nation by the year 2021, they said.
They said thousands of thronging young generations and students in the fair and their interests in ICT and digital devices during the past two days have proved that Bangladesh has been moving faster and effectively towards the right directions.
The chief guest said the digitisation process has already become successful and taken irreversible shape in reaching government services to the people at doorsteps quickly and easily in a hassle-free manner through the digitised ICT quickly at the lowest costs.
