Bangladesh Women lost to West Indies Women by 49 runs in their Group B match of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 at Chennai on Sunday.
Electing to bat first, West Indies Women piled up a healthy 148 for the loss of four wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
In reply, Bangladesh Women were shot out for a meager 99 off 18.3 overs.
Bangladesh Women failed to make any notable partnership. They lost their wickets in regular intervals.
Nigar Sultana of Bangladesh was the only successful run-maker for the Tigress. She notched up a run-a-ball 27 hitting two fours.
Fargana Haque, Sahjida Islam, Sharmin Akhter were the three other cricketers of Bangladesh who could reach double-digit figures scoring 17, 14 and 11 runs respectively.
SR Taylor grabbed three wickets at the cost of 13 runs while HK Mathews, DJS Dottin bagged a couple of wickets each instead of 16 and 17 runs respectively.
Besides, ASS Fletcher took one wicket for 14 runs respectively.
Earlier, West Indies made a solid foundation with HK Mathews and SR Taylor, the two Caribbean women contributed 67 runs for the opening stand.
MJS Dottin and SACA King built another notable partnership. They put on together 32 runs for the fourth wicket stand before Dottin was stumped out by Nigar Sultana off Rumana Ahmed when West Indies’ total was 130 for the loss of four wickets.
Opener HK Mathews hit a polished 41 from 42 balls featuring four fours while SR Taylor made a sparkle 40 off 41 balls including two fours and a sixer.
Dottin scored 24 while SACA King remained unbeaten with 20.
Nahida Akter restored some parity for her team claiming three wickets for 27 runs.
