Goju Ryu Karate Championship: Bangladesh karatekas bag nine gold medals

Bangladesh karatekas bagged nine gold medals on Thursday in the two-day long Indo-Bangla Goju Ryu Karate Championship, which was held at BKSP in Savar.
Earlier, Bangladesh karatekas earned two gold medals on Wednesday.
On the concluding day (Thursday), Omar Faruque Abir captured gold in the -45 kg weight category of the Men’s Division, Fazlul Karim Antar gained gold in the -65 kg weight category of the Men’s Division (Junior), Shahid Islam Saikat claimed gold in the -35 kg weight category of the Men’s Division, Zahirul Islam bagged gold in the +75 kg weight category of the Men’s Division, Shahadat Hossain captured gold in the +65 kg of the Men’s Division (Senior).
Meanwhile, Rabeya Akhter grabbed gold in the Kata event of the Women’s Division, Jabin Tasnim claimed gold in the +50 kg weight category of the Women’s Division, Samia Afrin bagged gold in the -40 kg weight category of the Women’s Division, Masuma Akter claimed gold in the +40 kg weight category of the Women’s Division.
After the ending of the karate meet, State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest. Director General of BKSP Brigadier General Shamsur Rahman, President of Bangladesh Guju Ryu Karate Association Niaz Rahim, General Secretary of Bangladesh Karate Federation Khaled Mansur Chowdhury were present at the time.
