A teacher by profession, Asaduzzaman Rony recently released his song ‘Biddeshi’ on Youtube paying tributes to the language martyrs.
The song was released on February 2. Soon after the release, it went viral on social media sites, especially on facebook, with hundreds of viewers posted comment appreciating his work.
Rony, who usually wtries poetry and essay, told The New Nation on Thursday that it is not just a song but also a slogan to motivate people against disrespect of Shaheed Minar and the language martyrs.
Written by Rony, music of the song is coordinated by Ahmed Humayun and Sanjay Samaddar directs the video.
“I composed the song in respect to the language martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the mother tongue and the nation,” said Rony.
Rony also said that he would continue to protest against any evil forces, which go against the national interest, through his songs and writings. “Bangladesh is like my mother and I’m always ready to sacrifice my life for her.”
Explaining his slogan, Roni said, “The Shaheed Minar is a national monument built in memory of the mother language martyrs, who were killed on 21 February 1952 during the language movement. It is a holly place where people throng in the early hours of February 21 to show respect to the language heroes with bare foot.”
“But the holly place has turned dirty where addicts and anti-social activists are crowding everyday. Ordinary people are also moving around the pedestal wearing shoes. It’s an utter disrespect to the martyrs as well as the Shaheed Minar. So, I have chanted the slogan protesting such disrespect.”
“I’m not a professional singer. I have tried my level best to sing it. The song was written from the spirit of cognition, nationalism and patriotism,” Rony added.
