A high level education delegation of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) led by the Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, MP, currently touring Finland to explore the possibility of collaboration between Bangladesh and Finland recently met Sinuhe Wallinheimo, the Minister for Education, Culture and Sports of Finland at her office to discuss matters relating to possibilities of co-operation between two countries in the field of Higher Education.
Besides the Chairman of the University Grants Commission Prof Abdul Mannan, senior members of the UGC, Consultants of HEQEP project of the UGC and Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Sweden Ghulam Sarwar were present during the meeting.
The Finish Minister was assisted by senior members of her Ministry and representatives of Educluster, an affiliate organization of the University Jyvaskyla of Finland.
Both parties discussed matters relating to co-operation between the two countries for enhancement of quality in higher education, exchange of students, teachers training and institutional collaboration.
Wallinheimo agreed that there are many areas in the higher education sector where both countries could work together. She also said that she will explore all possible ways so that the issues are discussed in higher levels of her government. The UGC Chairman presented Wallinheimo with a crest of the UGC after the meeting.
